A Historic Season for Bearcats

With record-breaking wins, academic highs, and national recognition, Bearcats Athletics celebrated one of its most successful years
to date.

Sport at Columbia Bible College is more than a game—it’s a vital space for discipleship, leadership development, and spiritual growth. Throughout the 2024–2025 Bearcats season, each of our teams achieved historic milestones while maintaining high academic standards.

Men’s Volleyball finished 5th in the PACWEST, their best result in nearly a decade.

Women’s Volleyball finished 4th in the PACWEST, ranking 8th nationally.

Men’s Basketball reached PACWEST playoffs for the second consecutive year, finishing 4th overall.

National Champions

Women’s Basketball enjoyed their most successful season ever: undefeated at home, finishing 2nd in the PACWEST finals. The team journeyed across Canada to the CCAA National Championship in Fredericton, NB where they became CCAA National Champions.

Athletic Development

Athletes at CBC invest approximately 25–30 hours per week in their sport alongside their academic responsibilities. Despite this demanding schedule, our student-athletes delivered exceptional academic results with an overall athlete average GPA of 3.25.

Athletic staff, coaches, and chaplains continue to walk alongside our athletes, offering leadership training, spiritual mentorship, and personal development opportunities. We believe that who our athletes are becoming is just as important as how they perform.

Community Engagement

The foundation of Bearcat culture is a mission to make a meaningful, Christ-honouring contribution to our local community. We value a spirit of service, recognizing that Christians are not called to live with entitlement or pride, but with humility—supporting and encouraging fellow Bearcats, students, Columbia staff and faculty, local churches, and those in our wider community.

This year, our student athletes lived out this calling through over 2,000 hours of community service. From mentoring youth to volunteering at local events and organizations, our teams were active throughout Abbotsford and the Lower Mainland.

One team in particular exemplified this spirit of service: Women’s Basketball. In addition to their historic achievements on the court, they served sacrificially off the court—volunteering at Potter’s Place Mission, Run for Water, and with the Salvation Army. They also ran a fundraiser for cancer awareness, organized Bell Let’s Talk care packages with Bible verses for the CBC community, and volunteered their time coaching youth athletes. Their leadership in service reflects the heart of Bearcat Athletics—living out the gospel through action.

Service will always be central to our athletic identity. We are proud of our student athletes for how they give back and shine the light of Christ in practical and powerful ways.
