Quest Rwanda Team 2025: Thank You

by Jeremy Walker (Quest Director)

It was truly a privilege for the Quest team to travel to Rwanda from April 26 to May 10, where we partnered with Kurumbuka Leadership Solutions.

First, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who generously donated toward this trip. Your contributions made this experience possible for our students—an investment in their learning, character development, and missional perspective. Because of your generosity, we were able to serve and support Kurumbuka, an organization doing incredible work in Rwanda and across Africa. Thank you!

We also want to express deep gratitude to those who faithfully prayed for our team and this journey. We felt truly covered by the prayers of God’s people. From health and logistics to team dynamics and opportunities, every aspect of the trip was smooth and full of God’s blessings. An experience like this requires the support of many, and your prayers made a significant impact on our team.

A special thank you goes to the Kurumbuka team, who walked alongside us every step of the way. From pre-trip preparation to sending a leader with us, and then hosting us with such excellence, we were deeply blessed. Each staff member demonstrated the love of Christ, and we are incredibly grateful. Without their partnership and commitment to developing Christ-centered leaders, this trip—and its impact—would not have been possible.

Our primary goal was to learn, serve, encourage, and support the incredible work Kurumbuka does every day. There were so many highlights, but here are a few we’d love to celebrate with you:

1. Building Relationships
We had the joy of living with and getting to know Trek students, as well as meeting ALI (Abundance Leadership Institute) graduates and YIM (Youth Impact Mission) leaders. Sharing meals, stories, and experiences was a blessing and an insightful way to learn about Rwanda. We found a shared desire to follow Jesus and be the body of Christ in our respective communities.

2. Learning Rwanda’s History
Visiting the genocide memorial was both sobering and inspiring. Witnessing the nation’s ongoing journey of forgiveness and reconciliation was a rare and powerful experience that will stay with us for a long time.

3. Leadership Development / Facilitation
We had the privilege of hosting a facilitation course focused on experiential learning activities that promote leadership growth. It was especially meaningful to introduce new activities, train leaders to use the low ropes course that Quest built last year, and then practice those skills with university and high school students. This served not only as a training opportunity for local facilitators, but also as a recruitment event for Kurumbuka’s Trek program.

4. Visiting Community Organizations
We were inspired by visits to local organizations like Love & Hands, ERM, and Melody of New Hope. These visits provided valuable insight into what it means to help and serve others while partnering with God in His work in Rwanda.

5. Serving at Rise to Shine Elementary School
We were honored to support this school by running VBS-style activities and helping with cement work for their expansion project. It was both rewarding and joyful to contribute to such meaningful work. The founder of the school (an ALI graduate) shared with the team what it takes to partner with God as he calls us, and her joy and vision in her calling was an incredible testimony.

6. Going on Safari
One of the most unforgettable days was our safari in Akagera National Park. We were blessed to see lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, baboons, and more—a powerful reminder of God’s majestic creation.

Thank you again for your prayers, support, and belief in this team. The impact was profound, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
