Students Leading Students
Campus community is an integral part of the student experience at Columbia Bible College. Our Student Life team strives to ensure that every student on campus feels known and seen. We aim to create meaningful events that foster connection and belonging, integrating everyday life as a part of the education process.
Campus Life Team
One of the ways that community is developed on campus is through the Campus Life Team (CLT, formerly STUCO). The CLT is made up of returning students who arrive on campus and receive leadership training before the Fall semester begins.
The CLT exists to:
- Foster a Jesus-centered community
- Model Christlike character
- Cultivate a warm and vibrant campus atmosphere
- Nurture a sense of belonging within our community

"My time on CLT was very influential in my journey as a Christ-follower and provided many opportunities to lead a team centered around Jesus. As the Social Life Team Lead, I learned what it means to create events that are both meaningful and fun for the student body. With support from the CLT, my teachers, and my mentor, I gained firsthand experience in teamwork and in seeking support as a leader. Overall, CLT was an amazing opportunity that will continue to shape me in the years to come!"
—Averie Tone, CLT 2024-25
Spiritual Life on Campus
Gathering as a community for worship and discipleship is a priority for us. This happens in a variety of ways throughout the week.
Chapel
Our theme for the 2024–2025 academic year has been “following Jesus wholeheartedly.” Weekly Thursday morning chapel times have been a key opportunity for faculty and students to learn more about what it means to follow Jesus. From witnessing the president washing the feet of a student to hearing students share powerful testimonies of gospel opportunities in and around Abbotsford, chapel is a life-changing experience for students.
Vespers
Vespers continues to be a highlight of the week throughout the academic year. Every Tuesday at 9pm, students and friends from the community gather for a time of singing, worship, and prayer that is completely student led.
"I love the community that Columbia fosters. Living in dorms this past year, I was so thankful for the deep and meaningful relationships I developed with my roommates and peers. Being surrounded by Jesus-centred individuals was such a huge blessing. I will forever cherish these long-lasting friendships."
—Janae Jefremow, Class of 2025
Athlete’s Alpha
In recognition of the demands on our Bearcat athletes’ time, a unique discipleship opportunity was started this past year. A weekly Alpha Bible study was set up to foster community and discipleship among our athletes.
Counselling
Settling into college life is a major transition for students. Our desire is to support them in this new season of life. Over the past year, we have continued to invest in the counselling support that is available to all CBC students. We intentionally network with external health providers, churches, and faith-based organizations to increase our capacity to care for the students in our community.
