Another Update from the Quest Rwanda Team 2025

by Jeremy Walker (Quest Director)

Since I updated you last, the team was able to attend a Rwandan church service. It was a highlight for many as it was quite different. Think vibrant worship, dancing, a 40+ choir who sang on and off the stage, and some passionate preaching at volumes many would never have experienced before. It was a very cool opportunity and the message on John 10 was fantastic. Afterword, we visited the genocide memorial in Kigali and the learning was both sobering and hopeful. I anticipate your loved one will have lots to share with you about what they learned there.

The following day we were privileged to visit 3 teams in a more rural location. Each was implementing principles of asset-based community development (ABCD) taught to them by Love and Hands, an organization that has been training Rwandans to thrive in their communities through local and sustainable solutions. We got to hear about each team’s businesses and ask questions about their journey. It was amazing to hear about the success and growth of each team, despite very humble beginnings.

We also visited Akagara National Park for our safari. We had one of the best viewings of animals any team has had here, complete with lions, giraffes, and a whole herd of elephants. It was amazing to say the least. Many pictures coming.

On Wednesday, May 7 we spent the morning at Rise to Shine Elementary helping them pour footings for their new classrooms. It absolutely poured rain, and you can imagine the whole team mixing cement on the ground and carrying and pouring hundreds of buckets of concrete. We then came back to the hub to clean up and then return to the school to run an after VBS for the school. My team had 115+ grade 1 and 2’s, so we had our hands full!  We had to adapt our plan for weather and the team did great.

Please pray for our final days here. Pray that we would sustain our energy, serve with the heart of Jesus, and stay open to further learning.
