This course introduces the history, geography, archaeology, and literature of the ancient Near East as it relates to the historical setting of the Old Testament. This course utilizes an interdisciplinary approach (literary, historical, sociological) to explore the context of the Old Testament in order to help the student become a better interpreter of the Bible.

Prerequisite: 60 hours of college credit and RELS 211 Biblical Hermeneutics
