Student Stories

Leah W.

“I chose Columbia One because it allowed me to take core Biblical courses and still have a few electives. I only spent one year at Columbia before going on to more post-secondary. Columbia One gave me the flexibility to broaden my understanding of the Bible, building a stronger foundation in my faith while still using my electives for courses that will transfer and go towards my desired degree.

Old Testament Survey was definitely a standout class for me because I learned so much. The Old Testament had always confused me a bit and it was hard for me to grasp the main themes. Old Testament Survey allowed me to see a broader overview of the Bible and connect key stories to each other. This course taught me about God’s great plan of restoration and His desire to bring Shalom (peace) to the world. For the first time, the Old Testament felt applicable and foundational for understanding the New Testament.

The CBC community is honestly incredible. With a smaller student body, I was able to get to know a lot of the students. It is so comforting to walk around and have so many people say hello. Everyone is so friendly and eager to get to know one another. At meals different people will sit with you and it is cool to chat with a variety of people. The community in the dorms feels like home and with weekly unit meetings, we have been able to build friendships and encourage one another as we do life together.”

Jessica D.

“During my time at CBC I have grown in my confidence within communication. As well in my knowledge of the Bible.

I really appreciate the passion of the profs here and how knowledgeable they are about the subjects they teach. I also appreciate how they value the students and are willing to spend time with us outside of class in order to get to know us, encourage us, or talk with us about any questions we may have.

I have learned so much about how everything is connected within the Bible, it’s reliability, and that it holds so many more valuable life lessons than I had ever noticed before. I am passionate about worship, discipleship, people and honoring God.”
